Los Santos & County Police Structure
Chief of Police
The chief of police oversees everything happening within the department, he also appears frequently during radio and TV interviews. The chief is both a public relations officer and day to day patrol officer. The chief has the permission to do anything within the department that doesn't breach San Andreas Law.
Deputy Chief of Police
The deputy chief of police is similar to the chief although they are more of a background character, filling in with interviews the chief cannot attend and always being in the background of interviews to offer his own opinions as well. The deputy chief power is restricted in comparison to the chief but they still control an extremely large portion of the department.
Commander
A commanders role is to oversee a certain aspect of the department as a whole. We have a PR (Public Resources) commander, SWAT commander, Joint Force commander and more. They posses similar powers to those above them but are restricted to their assigned divisions.
Captain
A captains job is to oversee all operations within their precinct. Each captain controls a certain area of Los Santos & Blaine County. Their powers are similar to that of the Chief and Deputy Chief although their power only affects their precinct. They are in charge of case files and when a matter affects the whole city, all the captains meet with the chief and deputy to discuss options.
Lieutenant
A Lieutenants is an officer with a small amount of control over lower ranking officers, this includes assigning them case files, forcing them to change units if necessary or even to punish lower officers if they act up.
Sergeant
A sergeant has similar powers to a lieutenant although they can only order officers up to the rank of Officer III
Officer I II & III
Officer I II and III are very similar roles, they are virtually our street soldiers, the ones you normally see doing marked patrols throughout the city say to say. The number of Officer you are only affects your level of loyalty in the eyes of higher ranking officers.
Secretary
A secretary is an office employee that helps out captains, commanders and other high ranking officers. They are not considered an Officer at all and therefore have no training as a police officer and are treated to be civilian
